The Red Hot Burritos began as an all-male quartet in 1989, partly as a salute to country rock pioneers Gram Parsons and the Flying Burritos Brothers. Inaugural members were guitarist TODD LUECK, drummer (& brother) COREY LUECK, bassist Glen Freeman, and frontman JIMMY DEAN. In 1990, CARLA TAYLOR replaced DEAN, and the Canadian-based group began writing and recording. Soon their singles were doing well on radio and an independent CD, "Taken By Surprise," produced by industry-veteran, Rob Bryanton, was released. The album featured singles "Feelin' Like a Fool," "To Be or Not to Be," as well as the title track. The Burritos' biggest audience was on TNN's Nashville Now TV program with country legend & show host RALPH EMERY. Longing to get closer to the heart of the business, Taylor moved to Nashville in 1993 where she continued exploring many musical performance and recording projects.
