The author earned his Ph.D. in botany/biochemistry at the University of Texas at Austin and is currently a molecular biologist at Baylor University. He was raised on a dairy farm in east Texas where his father taught him many building skills. For the past 25 years he has directed boys clubs in churches and civic organizations in Canada, Colorado, Hawaii, Texas and Utah. He has also directed boys camps and father/son camps. His hobbies include camping, fishing, hiking, wood working and, of course, working with boys.
