About the Author

Amalie M. Kass is Lecturer on the History of Medicine in the Department of Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is the coauthor of Perfecting the World: The Life and Times of Thomas Hodgkin, M.D. and the author of numerous journal articles, encyclopedic entries, and book reviews. She lives in the Boston area.
