This compilation contains 273 job descriptions drawn from 92 U.S. public libraries. Twenty major job categories from "Administration" to "Volunteers--Miscellaneous" are subdivided by title, and under each title several different jobs might be listed. For example, under Librarian in the "Children's and Youth Services" chapter, one finds descriptions for Children's Librarian, Children's Services Manager, and Youth Librarian, among others. Each entry is organized into standardized areas covering functions and responsibilities, knowledge and skills, tools and equipment, work environment, and more. A job--description writer's tool kit to draft accurate, clear statements and a CD-ROM that reproduces all entries in Microsoft Word are included. This practical volume, developed from actual job descriptions, should be helpful to most public libraries that need to create or revise position descriptions. Patricia Hogan
