Synopsis

"The trial and subsequent convictions of the terrorists that bombed the World Trade Center and planned other terrorists acts should put to rest any doubt about the deadly threat to American citizens posed by radical extremists. Mr. Dennis' book is a well written, intellectually provocative analysis of historical events and provides a chilling look into the future of possible terrorist acts by such (Muslim fundamentalist) extremists".

SECOND EDITION FOREWORD

The public's interest in the goals and ideology of the transnational Muslim fundamentalist movement has increased dramatically since the September 11th terrorist attacks against the United States. This book provides a helpful description of this deadly movement and the political dynamic and "mindset" which fuels it. In these pages you will find a capsule history of Islam and the reasons why, unlike most religions, Islam concerns itself not only with spiritual questions but also political ones. From the very start, Islam has represented a total way of life for its adherents, governing not only individual practice and belief but also ordering the social and political structure of Islamic society and even directing the nature and course of Islam's relations with non-Muslim peoples and nations.

When I first wrote an analysis and description of the Muslim fundamentalist movement and advanced the thesis that these groups (as distinguished from all of Islam) represented a "threat to the West," the world as we know it had not yet come into being. Sadly, the terrorist threat I had predicted has now become a reality. As a consequence, this volume has become all the more relevant, and its recommendations for protecting Americans at home and abroad are all the more urgent.

September 11th is only "chapter one" in what promises to be a long battle with a movement that perceives America and the West as "infidels" who must be converted or destroyed.

We must continue to be vigilant. And we must continue to understand the objectives and radically different world view that these groups possess, or else we risk a repeat of September 11th.
