About the Author
Lefty Kreh, an internationally known and respected master in the field, is the author of several important angling books, including Fly Fishing in Salt Water, Saltwater Fly Patterns, and Practical Fishing Knots (with Mark Sosin), as well as thousands of articles. He lives in Hunt Valley, Maryland.

He delves into the following subjects with his usual knowledgeable vigor: which rods, reels, and lines to use and how to rig them; how the shape, color, and weight of a fly affect its performance under different conditions; knots every fly fisher should know, and why they're essential; how to understand and exploit the direction of light; how to spot fish and their hiding places in all varieties of fresh and salt water, whether it is overcast or sunny; where and how to approach fish; what clothes to wear to keep as inconspicuous as possible; how casts such as the stack cast and double-haul can be invaluable; how line manipulation, speed, and sink rate are crucial in retrieving a fly. Separate chapters are devoted to trout and other freshwater game fish, species that inhabit estuaries and coasts, and exciting saltwater fish such as permit, tarpon, and even sharks.
