About the Author

Photographer and North Carolina resident GEORGE HUMPHRIES has been photographing his beloved state for more than fifteen years. His previous books include North Carolina: Images of Wildness, Along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and North Carolina Wildflowers. His photographs are also featured in Graphic Arts Center Publishing's NORTH CAROLINA calendar.

North Carolina native CLYDE EDGERTON has authored seven novels, including Walking Across Egypt, Where Trouble Sleeps, Killer Diller, and Redeye. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is a professor at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. His writing has earned him a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Lyndhurst Fellowship, the North Carolina Award for Literature, and five notable book awards from the New York Times.
