Russell Lamb graduated from the Famous Photographers School in New York, and studied under Ray Atkeson, and was inspired by Richard Avedon, Joseph Costa, Arthur d"Arazien, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Philppe Halsman, and others. He spent more than 30 years using large format cameras and making images of the American West. He received awards of excellence from Victor Hasselblad and Linhof Technika, both camera systems he used extensively. He passed away after a brief illness in 2009 in his home in Portland, Oregon.
His work appeared in a number of coffeetable books and magazine such as Sunset, Popular Photography, and Sierra.
