The introduction by Nicolas Kanellos and Irma Liz Hernandez trace the author's development as a writer and present Lucas Guevara in the context of Hispanic history and immigrant literature.

About the Author:

DR. NICOLÁS KANELLOS is an award-winning author of reference and historical works on Hispanic culture of the United States including Hispanic Periodicals in the United States, Origins to 1960: A Brief History and Comprehensive Bibliography (Arte Público Press, 2000), The Hispanic-American Almanac, Hipanic Firsts, and Thirty Million Strong: Reclaiming our Hispanic Legacy. He is the Brown Foundation Professor of Hispanic Literature at the University of Houston, as well as Director of the Recovering the U.S. Hispanic Literary Heritage program.

IMARA LIZ HERNÁNDEZ is a graduate student at the University of Houston, where she is completing work on her doctorate in Hispanic literature in the United States.

ETHRIAM CASH BRAMMER holds a MFA in Creative Writing from San Fracnisco State University. A widely published poet, screenwriter and writer of fiction, he is also the translator of The Adventures of Don Chipote, or When Parrots Breast Feed (Arte Público Press, 2000).
