Unfinished Funeral is a novel set at the turn of the century in Spain, on the ancestral estates of the infinitely rich and eccentric Dukes of Combon de Triton. The heroine is Ermelinda, Duchess of Combon de Triton, who has contrived to avert the fate of Spanish wives of all classes--desertion, betrayal, resignation--by making herself an object of pity and awe to her husband and children.
