He successfully fills a niche between the more general personal finance books, which provide only a cursory discussion of investment strategies and options, and the esoteric or faddish investment guides filling library and bookstore shelves. After explaining how the actual transaction of buying or selling a stock takes place, he covers the basics of investing in stocks, mutual funds, fixed-income investments, and real estate. Case also considers international and socially responsible investing and discusses portfolio-building concepts.
