This work provides an introductory overview of pharmacology for undergraduate students. The first section of this book offers an insight into how drugs in food are absorbed, the discovery of drugs in food, and their absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination. A chapter in this section deals with the necessary understanding of the composition and functioning of the central nervous system in order to appreciate neuroactive agents.; Section four deals with drug abuse in general, the use of drugs to enhance the athletic performance in particular, the historical development of drug abuse laws, and finally, the challenges that drug companies face in the process of drug development.
