Review:
The modern world is dedicated to the illusion of control. But Brian Erickson is dedicated to listening for the voice of the living God, so he knows that our lives are always out of our control. We can't control the climate of our relationship to God. We can only listen. We could have no better help in that task than this talented young writer/theologian. (William H. Willimon, bishop of Birmingham Area United Methodist Church)
This book is based upon the intersection of God's story and our own personal stories. In brilliant writing that teems with freshness and originality, Brian Erickson gives the engagement with scripture a ‘you are there' quality that, again and again, catches a reader by surprise. A remarkable combination of spiritual honesty and vibrant imagination. (Donald G. Shockley, author of Private Prayers in Public Places)
Brian Erickson has written a book that is both comforting and challenging as it guides us in a search for God and for self. It is for seekers, for wrestlers, for those willing to ask their own questions and find answers as they study the scriptures and consider aspects of their everyday lives. Beautifully written and provocative, I will return to it again and again. (Wanda D. Bigham, assistant general secretary for schools, colleges, and universities of The United Methodist Church)
