About the Author:

Mary Lou Dempler, a professional musician, who began her musical career at age seven at the Ursuline School of Music in Louisville, KY. She majored in music throughout her college years. In addition to a 20 year teaching career, in 1997 she was recipient of the Duesquene University Scholarship for guitar instructors. In the fall of 1998, she attended a ukulele workshop at Harvard University. She has created the ukulele tablature method and written this book. She founded L.U.A.U. [Louisville Ukulele Association Unlimited], has produced two Ukulele CDs, and is the owner of She is a ukulele enthusiast who promotes the instrument through class instruction, authoring books, creating cassettes and CDs, the website [], her own ukulele [LOU LOU], and a ukulele society [L.U.A.U.].
