An understanding of the physiological demands of a sport, individual playing positions and the training methods used within that sport are vital if the therapist or sports doctor is to adequately diagnose, treat and prescribe a suitable progressive rehabilitation programme that will get the sports performer back to full fitness and minimize the chances of the injury recurring.
