Kevin J. Whitton is the managing editor for FreeSurf Magazine on the North Shore of Oahu and contributing writer to regional, national and international publications. An avid naturalist and botanical hobbyist, he is also the author of Rain, Beans and Rice: Memoirs of Life in a Costa Rican Rain Forest, an adventure travel memoir based on his three-month experience as a trail guide in a private rain forest preserve. He has lived in California, Colorado, Mexico and Australia and now resides with his wife and two cats on Oahu.
