Synopsis

This publication follows the new Virginia Curriculum for World Geography. This highly illustrated book appears in the same format and has the same types of features as Amsco's other social studies test-preparation books. It is an excellent tool for homeschoolers. A physical map for each region of the world can be found on pages 40-52. 2) Many photos that illustrate geographical and cultural features. Photos on pages 28 and 29 show how architecture of homes is partly determined by culture. 3) Graphs, diagrams, tables on geography topics. Population graphs can be found on pages 59 and 60. The diagram on page 15 helps illustrate how the tilt in the Earth's axis determines seasons. 4) New, four-color cover 5) This is a new book, consisting of 12 chapters. It has 11 Chapter Tests, a Glossary, Index, and 2 Practice Tests. 6) Practice Tests are found on pages 131-154. 7) A typical chapter has the following elements: (1) a recitation of the Virginia Standard of Learning on which the chapter is based, (2) and introduction titled "Setting the Scene," (3) a list of Key Questions to be answered in the chapter, (4) the narration proper (which is broken up by two levels of heads), (5) a conclusion titled "Summer Up," and (6) a chapter test titled "Chapter Review."
