ALAN GRANBY & JANICE HYLAND are the proprietors of Granby Hyland Antiques, of Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, one of America's leading dealers in museum-quality maritime artifacts. In 2005 they worked with William I. Koch on the maritime chapter of The Things I Love, a catalogue published by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, to accompany an exhibition of works from Mr. Koch's collections.
"These beautiful paintings, artifacts, and models exude as much bravado as the history they represent and the collector whose taste they express. Bill Koch s collection evokes the whole growth of American fortitude at sea, from the broadside frigate battles that first brought the U.S. Navy international stature to the America's Cup races that fostered so many experiments in naval architecture and in the science of racing tactics. The producers of this book ably explore the epochal events and heroic figures that inspired the creation of these objects and paintings. They also ably record the evolution of a remarkable collection of maritime art."
- Daniel Finamore, Russell W. Knight Curator of Maritime Art & History, Peabody Essex Museum
