In the spirit of "Jonathon Livingston Seagull," and "Watership Down," author John Morano brings us the unforgettable story of Lupe.

Lupe believes he is the last Guadalupe Petrel alive and he might be just that. But right now, his biggest problem is that a man-flock has decided to save him by locking him in a cage. Lupe knows that the only way he can save his kind is to find a female so he plots his escape to search for the Islands of Life.

Lupes story will make you smile and laugh and leave you with a lasting warmth. And all the while, Morano will take you to strange places, introduce you to wonderful characters and make you think about religion, race, responsibility and the environment.

A Wing and A Prayer is, at once, a childrens book for adults and a young adult novel with universal themes. An afternoons read that youll never forget.

Features a special introduction by John C. Sawhill, President and CEO of The Nature Conservancy.

About the Author:

John is a Professor of Journalism at Monmouth University in New Jersey. John began his writing career in New York at "Modern Screen Magazine," the nation's oldest movie magazine, where he served as lead film critic and managing editor. After years of covering the entertainment industry, John became interested in environmental issues and penned his first novel "A Wing and a Prayer." With its success, The Morano Eco-Adventure Series was born. John is married, has two sons and two dogs, is an amateur paleontologist, and loves playing basketball when his knees let him.

Sarah E. Anderson is a visual artist who works primarily in acrylics and pen and ink. She is also very interested in book-making and graphic narratives. Her other interests include expanding her already large book collection, playing a variety of video games, attending philharmonic concerts, and running around the neighborhood. Sarah would like to thank John Morano for giving her the opportunity to work on this book with him. She would also like to thank her parents for their continuing support.

"[Wing is] a work that promotes a true conservation ethic, revolving around the mutually dependent relationship between people and nature." - John Sawhill, President & CEO Emeritus, The Nature Conservancy

"Wing is simply wonderful... A beautiful story that should be required reading for all humans living on our fragile planet." - Richard Wainwright, author

"Morano challenges the reader to think, feel, and enjoy. I hope that no one passes up the opportunity to experience the message." - Jason Chavez, "Albuquerque Journal"

"Morano's Eco-Adventure Series is triumphant on all fronts. He presents animals working alone, or in conjunction with humans, to reach uplifting, sometimes bittersweet conclusions. He pulls out, from our own everyday existence, the beautiful and dangerous world of birds, fish, and more without drenching those worlds in the violence that nature holds inherit; Morano never dips into the saccharine, however, and it is this balancing act that spotlights his talent as a writer and the sincere, adult heart behind all that he writes." - The Brilliant Review

"...a warm story...a great deal of imagination...a good job of pulling the reader into the story...I can see [these] novels some day as possible Disney movies." - Will Norton, Jr., Dean, University of Nebraska College of Journalism and Mass Communications
