Do opposites attract? Perhaps they can if something powerful brings them together, something as powerful as the love of Christ. Michael Williams, author of "My Brother’s Keeper" now brings us a touching love story about two people who, though practically enemies, are brought together through the love of Jesus.
This romantic and spiritual novel follows Jack, a racist white Chief of Police in Pine Bluff, Alabama and Darla, a black assistant Attorney General. Their first meeting, far from friendly, occurs when Darla investigates the numerous cases of police brutality toward Pine Bluff’s black citizens.
But a chance meeting at a conference in Seattle brings Jack and Darla together again for a trip that they will never forget. Stranded in a snowstorm, they find that God works in mysterious ways. This strange prolonged journey results in Jack and Darla accepting Christ into their hearts. Suddenly, instead of seeing each other as enemies, the two find that they have a lot in common. With barriers broken, Jack and Darla begin to fill the holes in each other’s lives. They return to their homes as changed people and must draw upon their relationship with God to deal with the difficulties that they face at home.
A refreshing change from the predictable tawdry romance novels of today’s world, Michael Williams’s new work of religious fiction offers readers a look at a relationship that is more than just skin deep and portrays a beautiful story about finding God and finding love.
