He lives in Bozeman, Montana, with his two retrievers, Trouble and Taylor.
E. Donnall Thomas Jr. writes regularly about the outdoor life for a number of respected publications, including Gray's Sporting Journal, Alaska, Ducks Unlimited, Big Sky Journal, Sports Afield, Outdoor Life, Shooting Sportsman, and many others. The author of eight books, he recently completed The Double Helix, a detailed account of bowhunting in Africa.
