From the Inside Flap

From the days of the Singing Cowboy (Gene Autry), who in 1960 purchased an American League franchise to play baseball in the suburbs of rapidly growing Los Angeles, to their recent World Series and divisional titles, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have been one of the most entertaining and popular teams in baseball. Their loyal and devoted fan base, developed in the early days when the team still shared Dodger Stadium with their crosstown rivals, stayed with them through years of frustration and has been rewarded with their 21st-century success. And now everything any real fan could possibly want to know about them is in Angels Essential, a fun, fact-filled reference guide that tells the complete story of this beloved ballclub.

Superstars like Nolan Ryan and colorful characters like Bo Belinsky dot the team's history, as do other names synonymous with greatness, like Vladimir Guerrero, Don Baylor, Jim Fregosi, Bartolo Colon, Rod Carew, and Troy Glaus. Milestone achievements, like Reggie Jackson's 500th home run and Mike Witt's perfect game, are part of that history as well. Angels Essential relives the pennant races, the triumphs, and the failures and introduces readers to the heroes, goats, villains, and flakes who have contributed to the history of this organization.

Whether you are a serious fan in search of previously undiscovered information or a casual fan looking to upgrade your status, Angels Essential gives you more of what you crave and serves it up on a most appetizing platter. There's trivia, special Top 10 lists, "what if" scenarios, and much more, all contained in the compelling story of a team and a franchise that in less than 50 years has established itself as one of the best in baseball.
