Gr. 2-4. Books in the Animals in Danger series use simple text and colorful photographs to introduce young readers to some of the world's endangered species. Each volume begins with a short explanation of the terms endangered and extinction . It then focuses on one species, exploring habitat, behavior, mating habits, and possibilities for its future. A final section tabulates more useful information, and each book includes a simple glossary, suggestions for further reading, and addresses of conservation agencies. The text is clear, and the photographs will hold the interest of very young readers, but there's not enough information for serious research. Consider these titles to enhance an existing collection of animal books. Heather Hepler
