Explains how to use the Castanet software delivery mechanism with the Bongo graphical user interface to make software readily available to users in a Java environment

Castanet and Bongo Programming seems to be aimed squarely at beginners--it even includes a Java primer in the appendix--but contains a surprising amount of depth, including a helpful chapter on channel security. Authors Neil Barlett and Steve Simkin take turns writing chapters, making for a tag-team approach that has a hard time keeping the reader's focus. Castanet and Bongo Programming mostly focuses on building Castanet channels, with enough Bongo thrown in to be useful. It is no substitute for a comprehensive guide to the Bongo class library.
There is no CD-ROM available with this book, but Coriolis's site (http://www.coriolis.com) allows you to download all the files used in Castanet and Bongo Programming. Castanet and Bongo are available from Marimba's (http://www.marimba.com) site.
