From Booklist:
This parable teaches principles of management with a spiritual bent by telling the story of a businessman who is appointed to run a company facing bankruptcy. Through conversations with interesting characters he learns how to rebuild the company and make it prosper. "On-Purpose" means focusing on all areas where each individual joins, belongs, and contributes to an organization. The on-purpose business theme is built upon four pillars, which include "meaning," or the purpose principle, which coordinates the purpose of the person with the purpose of the organization (business, not-for-profit, or any type of organization). The second pillar is "mindset," or the need for each individual to think and act like the president by taking personal responsibility. The "service model," or the method of building a business, is the third pillar, and the fourth is the "manner of operation," or doing more of what one does best more profitably. The story device is not unique in management books, but it still may appeal to a wide readership. Mary Whaley
