It's the first day of summer, and Amy and Martin are ready for adventure. The fun begins when the two friends climb aboard babysitter Liz's boat, the Bumblebee, for a sail to Turtle Island. Meanwhile, their lovable companion Click carries out his own plans for relaxing in the sun--mouse-style--on deck.

From School Library Journal:

K-Gr 3-Click magazine's Click (the mouse) and the Kids make their book debut in this story. Liz takes Martin, Amy, and Click on her boat and teaches them the rudiments of sailing. She also gives her young charges opportunities to steer the boat and handle the lines. Occasionally the text is unclear, such as when Liz and Amy push out the tiller and Martin gets wet. There's no explanation as to why he is soaked. "If you don't duck [on the "hard alee" command], you could get hit by the boom-and that would not be fun" is an understatement-a child could be knocked out, sent overboard, and drowned-NOT fun, indeed! Kolding's cartoonlike pen-and-ink-and-watercolor illustrations are somewhat flat, failing to capture the effects of wind on a sailboat. When Liz says, "We'll be running with the wind and going really fast," the accompanying illustration shows a full sail and a hull that is flat in the water, with no sense of speed. Click's unacknowledged presence clutters the story. A marginal purchase.

From Publishers Weekly:

Cricket magazine's "Click and the Kids" star in their own picture book, Click and the Kids Go Sailing by Charnan Simon, illus. by Richard Kolding, the first title in a new series. In this adventure, Martin, Amy, Click and Liz, the babysitter, climb aboard the Bumblebee for some smooth and rough sailing; nautical terms and a diagram of a sailboat teach aspiring sailors the ropes.
