Colin McGhee started thatching at the age of 16 in Essex, England. At the age of 25, he became the youngest thatcher ever to win the Master Thatcher's Cup. He then moved to the United States, where he has thatched roofs for the Jamestown Settlement, the Bronx Zoo, and numerous individuals. He has written the Storey title Rustic Birdhouses and Feeders. He now lives in Virginia.
