Either we go back to precepts learned in childhood, or we strike out into completely uncharted territory, but we always begin this journey by questioning everything we have ever been taught. Ultimately, through this process of self-examination, we arrive at truth. In 1976, approximately two years before beginning work on the original manuscript, I found myself in a pit of agony-for life to become more desolate seemed unimaginable. Driving home alone late one Sunday night I made a vow-if I survived this ordeal then I would, in some way, be available to encourage and assist others struggling alone on this journey. "The Training of the Wolf" is the fulfillment of that promise.
