The sudden flurry of color and rapid spread of busy prints is the result of the new ease of computer printing in fabric design. Pioneered by Brazilian/British design duo Basso & Brooke, the hyper-real digital technique has spread not just among the small but innovative studios but also to more traditional fashion houses such as Chanel and Armani. Following a discussion of how the current techniques have revolutionized hundreds of years of screen-printing, The Print Revolution is organized by an A-Z of keynote designers operating at this cutting edge of fashion. Accompanied by fashion photography, catwalk imagery, and close-up details of prints and patterns, and crucially supplemented by the designer's own notebooks, impressions, quotations and influences, the book is an invaluable reference as well as a visual delight of the inspirations and creations that have given rise to the current explosion of interest in textile design.

Tamasin Doe began her career as deputy fashion editor at the Evening Standard. She later became the fashion director of InStyle magazine and coauthored Patrick Cox: Wit, Irony, and Footwear.
The book highlights the ground breaking textile design in the digital age, showcasing the pops of colour and bold prints that are the result of the new ease of computer printing in fabric design. An A-Z of the key designers who are using digital printing in fashion today, focusing on the amazing prints we have seen from designers such as Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbanna, Holly Fulton, Prada and Matthew Williamson just to name a few.
The photographs in this book are fantastic and show the intricate details, patterns, fabrics and embellishment used by each designer accompanied by Tamasin s insight into the designers use of printing from her own notebooks, impressions, quotations and influences. The perfect book for any fashion student or fashionista --The P-Ho Diaries
The Print Revolution explores how fashion designers have put the new technology of digital printing to use. Covering a wide array of designers from new to established, the book catalogs their inspiring results.Traditionally, silk-screen printing was the standard method of applying patterns onto apparel but it could add substantial cost to the product since each color required a separate screen. Because of this, multi-hued patterns were limited to higher-end collections. With digital printing, the process works in a similar manner that an inkjet printer would, meaning that the complexity and scale of patterns is now unlimited. It s pretty amazing to see how this technology has rapidly opened the floodgates for designers of all sizes to apply surface patterns to their apparel. --Nubby Twiglet
