Monique Mandali always had an "instinct" for mandalas. Even as a child in Belgium she was fascinated by these circular designs found all over the world. The 22 designs in her first book emerged spontaneously during 10 days while living in a tent in Montana during the winter of 1978. "It was the most incredible creative process," she recalls. Wanting to share her mandalas, she printed and collated several thousand copies and sold them all. Then, preferring to focus on raising her young daughter and furthering her education instead of growing her nascent business, she put her mandala venture on hold until 1991. After re-publishing her first book she created additional unique mandala coloring books and has sold over 100,000 copies. She recently started Mandala Connections, a store that offers a variety of mandala products.
