Banjo has no limits. Why should you?
Whatever you want to play: Bluegrass, new-grass, old-time, folk, rock, swing, jazz, jazz-grass, country, classical, new age or anything else, the Banjo GED will help you make the music you want to make.
Banjo is a wonderful instrument. Playing banjo puts a smile on your face and adds joy to any music you play.
Today, traditional music is flourishing, with growing interest in Bluegrass and old-time banjo, across the country and around the world.
Beyond that, banjo is breaking out of traditional music to add some much-needed twang to everything from jazz to classical to rock n roll. The Banjo GED series of learning materials takes a modern approach to understanding the banjo, the fingerboard and the wide-open possibilities for playing traditional and non-traditional styles of music.
Harmony is the foundation of Western music, so Banjo GED starts there. Banjo GED 1: Chords! Chords! Chords! teaches you how to quickly and easily figure out any chord you want, without a lot of memorizing.

Michael Bremer makes his living through words, music and teaching. As a writer, editor and publisher, he has worked on projects ranging from computer games to medical equipment to online math courses to music instruction.
As a musician, he has played guitar since 1968. In 2002, he moved to the Sierra Nevada foothills in Northern California, and decided it was time to learn banjo. It took over his musical world. Today, he plays banjo (and guitar) in a number of bands that play everything from old-time to swing to rock and roll (yes, he plays electric banjo in a rock band but don t tell the California Bluegrass Association). He also writes songs and believes it s time for banjo to re-enter the world of singer-songwriters.
Through it all, Michael is a compulsive teacher, holding workshops and seminars for writers as well as banjo players, and has taught classes at the California Bluegrass Association Music Camp. Combining his instructional writing, his love of music (especially banjo), and teaching, he began writing and producing the Banjo GED series of instructional books and videos. He also writes music instruction books for Hal Leonard, including Banjo Aerobics, and The Clawhammer Cookbook, both of which are due to be released in 2012.
