Daniel Relph spent a turbulent childhood moving from place to place; his father made a living as an engineer. His mother, a schoolteacher of Irish heritage, had an Irish temper to match. His only sibling, Geneva was equally strong-willed and hardheaded which led to many sibling rows. Because of the constant moving and closeness of age, Daniel's sister was often his only companion. They remain friends as well as brother and sister. Therefore, Daniel tends to pick women of equal temperament. The women all through his life have caused a good deal of turbulence; and yet, he has remained married to his loving, sometimes wayward, wife Ann for 26 years. They have four children from ages 12 to 25 years. Daniel has a BA in mathematics and works as an electronics technician. While he was in the Air Force, he moved about to many places including Europe. Even now, he travels extensively while working on government research ships. The ships are part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) fleet which sail all along the U.S. coasts and to many parts of the world. Daniel started writing while he was in the Air Force and completed his first book The Trouble with Patience in 1997. The novel is an expression of his studied fascination and heartfelt love of women. The book needed polishing and editing which took another three years, during which Daniel became a self-taught expert in writing and in the use of the English language.
