Old Louisiana Plantation Homes and Family Trees is the definitive guide to the important plantation homes of the Pelican State, as well as the socially and historically prominent families who lived in them. Originally published in 1941, this two-volume boxed set contains a wealth of historical, architectural, and genealogical information.
Volume I features descriptions and rare photographs of houses and plantations, many no longer extant. Some sites included are Ormond, Tezcuco, Evergreen, Waverly, and Melrose plantations.
Volume II traces the history of several important families and includes numerous portraits, coats of arms, and archival photographs. Among the families discussed are La Frenier, Parlange, Butler, Percy, Kenner, Semmes, De Marigny, Beauregard, Prudhomme, Wilkinson, and Stewart.
