Gr. 3-5. This is just the kind of book librarians like to have on hand come Christmastime: one with more than 60 pages of attractive crafts. On the minus side, the directions are so minimal that, in many cases, kids will have to improvise. The oversize format fits four crafts to each two-page spread. A basic list of supplies heads each project, and there's a short, step-by-step set of instructions. Only a few of the projects have simple instructional sketches, and since the photograph of each project shows only the end result, some kids may not be able to visualize how to achieve the cute doily snowflakes or tissue Christmas tree. Still, that's the tradeoff for including so many crafts. Certainly, adults working with children will be able to puzzle out most of the projects--or wing it. Among the crafts included are several varieties of cards, ornaments, boxes, wreaths, gifts, and wrapping paper. Another book in the series centers on Halloween crafts. Ilene Cooper
