Grade 10 Up London-based nurse Caroline is guileless and a little clumsy, but pure and lovable a typical manga heroine. She goes on a sightseeing trip to Amsterdam and, while there, delivers a book to a coworker's cousin, handsome and wealthy Marius. After returning to work, she begins caring for an unconscious three-year-old boy, only to find out that he is related to Marius, who is a renowned doctor called in to assist. The two fall in love and set off to live happily ever after. The book resembles traditional manga in many ways it reads right to left, the characters are stereotypically manga in orientation and expression, and the panel layouts are similar. In keeping with the romance theme, the book is illustrated and written entirely in pink ink. Romance novels and manga may at first seem incongruous, but there are actually many similarities. Scarcely believable plots, star-crossed lovers, sweet-natured heroines, and distant heroes are found frequently in both.
