About the Author:

Renée Locks has been a multimedia artist, calligrapher, and poet in the San Francisco Bay Area for 30 years. Her work shares the delight she feels in the magic in our world and in ourselves. Renée began combining her love of painting with calligraphy after teaching and offering her written words of affirmation to her children, her classes and friends. Renée is the mother of five children whom she raised on her own, a grandmother of eleven. She has been involved with the Marin Abused Women services and the Peace Center of Marin.

Renée's calligraphy celebrates the joy of heartfelt, strong-yet gentle words. Her work is inspired by the feeling nature evokes in her, and is influenced by the simplicity and directness of Japanese art. She mixes her own sumi ink with an ink stick.

A calligraphy teacher for more than 10 years, Renée calligraphs words to nourish, heal, and bless the mind, heart, and spirit. Peace begins within us. I would like my work to help us stay in touch with the world around us.

Renée also exhibits her work at art galleries and art fairs.
