Linda D. Gilkerson has either owned businesses or worked with dreamers who want to own their own businesses for the past 20 years. Linda opened and ran two successful retail businesses, a balloon business and a hat store. She met Theresia Paauwe while working for a microenterprise program that was part of a community development corporation. They created Business Matters, a consulting firm to provide training and curriculum to microenterprise programs. They also formed a not-for-profit organization, Neighborhood Self-Employment Initiative, of which Linda was the director for three years.
