About the Author:
Philip Steinbacher has a range of professional experiences combining components of teaching, writing, and entertainment. Before becoming a teacher, he spent 14 years working for the entertainment division of Walt Disney World in Orlando. Since receiving his master's degree in education he has taught students from grades K–12 in public and private schools in Florida, North Carolina, Illinois, and Hawaii. From 1998–2003 he served as program coordinator for a small public school district in the Chicago suburbs, teaching and designing organizational and programmatic systems for administering the district's K–8 gifted program. Steinbacher has led various teacher workshops on differentiation strategies, gifted identification, and other areas of professional development, has worked closely with school boards and administrators reviewing and redesigning gifted programs, and served as his school's curriculum coordinator.
Steinbacher has a bachelor's degree in Music from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in elementary education from the University of Central Florida, and is a member of the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Quotation Quizzlers, a collection of critical thinking puzzles based on inspirational quotations, is his first book. His second title, Vocabulary Ladders, was published by Prufrock Press in 2006. In addition to teaching and writing, Steinbacher is licensed to deliver Avatar, a self-development course taught worldwide that emphasizes personal responsibility, creative thinking, and service to others. Steinbacher lives in Hawaii, where he teaches and writes.
