About the Author

Christopher Knapp (1870-1945) was a devoted student of God s Word. During his early years of ministry, Knapp went to the Bahamas as an evangelist, where he enjoyed a fruitful ministry. Later, Knapp and his wife went to Honduras, Central America, as pioneer missionaries. For five years they sowed the seed of the Gospel, often taking long and arduous journeys into the interior. After contracting malaria, Knapp returned to the States and continued to minister the Word. He continued an effective written ministry almost to the end of his life. We are delighted to see this excellent volume back in print again, and we feel that all lovers of the O.T. historical books will share this feeling when they explore it. This area of Jewish monarchical history seems to be little trodden by preachers and teachers. Perhaps the reason behind this is the dim feeling that the way is somewhat obscure, and expository literature thereon scarce. If this has been the attitude, then it need obtain no longer, for Mr Knapp's cogent presentation, along with a helpful introduction by the late Dr. H.A. Ironside, is most informative and spiritual. While most certainly scholarship is not lacking, the author ever seeks to speak to the heart and conscience, pressing the practical lessons upon his readers. The contemporary prophets and their messages are given their place, and a helpful chronological table is provided. This laudable volume is a must for every lover of expository and edifying Biblical literature. --C. Ernest Tatham
