About the Author

Charles V. Mauro is the author and photographer of The Battle of Chantilly (Ox Hill), A Monumental Storm, for which he received the coveted Nan Netherton Heritage Award in 1999 for his historical research, writing and photography. He also wrote the screenplay and is the co-producer of an independent film, The Battle of Chantilly, based on his book. He is a member of the Historic Centreville Society, Ltd., the Bull Run Civil War Round Table, the Friends of Fort Ward, the Louisiana Historical Association Memorial Hall Foundation, Inc., the National Center for Civil War Photography and the Civil War Preservation Trust.
