9781598005240: Call Me Mara: Life's Lessons From The Book of Ruth

From the bitter to the sweet: the profound story of Naomi Call Me Mara focuses on the strong and beautiful character of Naomi from the Book of Ruth, a heroine whose life carries the deepest of meanings. Her story tells us about the long way down and, equally, the long way up. Naomi is without hope when she returns with Ruth to the land of her nativity, but everything begins to change as the plan of God unfolds. Call Me Mara brings to life Naomi's journey, which is interwoven with other biblical stories and examples, as well as the author's personal experiences. It also provides questions that can be used as a class study guide or for readers to contemplate on their own spiritual journey. Call Me Mara examines the importance of right timing, the meaning of commitment, the value of obstacles and hardships, and the importance of gratitude and praise.

About the Author:

From childhood, Irene Armstrong has been a writer of songs, poetry, and books. She is a minister, singer, and international radio voice, who amidst heartache and victory, she says, guides others to the path of truth and peace. Call Me Mara is her seventh published book. "To God be glory," Irene says. "Great things He hath done!"

We can leave the land of Moab behind,
but if we take the frustrations of our past with us, we will never be free.

There were many slow days for Naomi and Ruth, days when not a leaf was stirring. There were times of despair, but there were more times of rejoicing. CALL ME MARA is based on the book of Ruth with the real heroine being Naomi whose strong and beautiful character portrays a life of deep meaning. From the country of Moab, the burying place for a beloved husband and two sons, she makes her way back to Bethlehem during the barley harvest having Ruth, her daughter-in-law as her only recipient. A scarlet thread is interwoven, bringing Ruth, through Naomi, into the bloodline of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Many life-building episodes add luster and exciting tales which are sure to bless the reader. The book can also be used as a study guide for class discussions.
