This small book from the All about Opposites series gets young ones thinking about the difference between night and day. The first photo shows a blue sky, pillowy clouds, and a bright sun. The facing page has a single word: day. Turn the page to a picture of night, with a dark sky and a glowing moon. The book goes on to show similar things during the day and night: a Ferris wheel, a house, parents and their children. A smiling girl is representative of a “good day,” while another girl, resting her head on a book, is accompanied by “good night.” This book’s simple concept might have gone a bit further—for instance, showing how different animals come out in the day or night—but it’s short and effective and offers a place to start talking about opposites with the youngest children.
