We live in a day when many people in Christendom give lip service to the authoritative preaching of the Word of God. Yet, upon closer inspection, we see that preaching is being greatly diminished among Bible-believing Christians. Some who claim that preaching is a priority are often found doing less and less of it. In many so-called local churches, the sound exposition of Scripture has been replaced by carnal worship, secular entertainment, drama, dance, movies, and secular psychology.Of equal concern is the growing lack of sound exposition in churches that do believe in preaching. Often the sermons of modern day preachers are ill-prepared, out of context, and inaccurate to God s Word rather than prepared with diligent study and prayer. While the delivery may be showy, entertaining, passionate, and zealous, the result of such preaching is powerless and fruitless. This is because we have departed from God s model of ministry the preaching of His Word, His way. In this carnal day of the emergent church movement, Preaching That Pleases God provides a clarion call for preachers and Bible students everywhere to return to biblical preaching as God defined it in His Word. It is a call to return to God s authority, to God s mandate, and to God s model of authentic ministry. It is a call away from the never-ending pursuit of fads and trends, and back to the pursuit of Christ and the accurately preached Word.

Dr. Tom Farrell is a third generation preacher who has a heart for preachers. His father was a pastor, and his grandfather was a circuit-riding pastor. Brother Farrell preached his first message as a teenager in a rescue mission where one man responded to the invitation and received Christ. From that small beginning, the Lord has opened hundreds of doors for evangelistic crusades, nationally and internationally, over the last thirty years. He is involved in church planting and ministry training around the world. Dr. Farrell and his wife Regina have three children Ben, Beth, and Becky. Ben is also in full-time evangelism. Dr. Farrell has served on the staff of The Wilds Christian Camp and is presently the President of Advanced Ministry Training.Review:
This book examines all areas of Bible preaching. It will remind us older preachers of the responsibility we have to rightly divide the Word of God and the importance of our lives reflecting the Lord Jesus Christ. --Dr. Bobby Roberson, pastor of Gospel Light Baptist Church
Dr. Farrell's defense of the use of a Spirit-filled invitation is worth the price of the volume. Those of us who minister in a generation infatuated by biblical instruction without practical application need the challenge that this book presents. --Dr. Chuck Phelps, pastor of Colonial Hills Baptist Church
The hundreds of hours that Dr. Farrell has invested in this book will benefit both this present generation as well as many generations to come. His passion for preaching and producing preachers will be obvious to all who will read this book. --Dr. Ron Comfort, chancellor of Ambassador Baptist College
