He has a degree in Nuclear Engineering, and was an Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer in the U.S. Army, assigned to the Defense Atomic Support Agency an its Nuclear Emergency Team. He had access to the design details of all nuclear and thermonuclear weapons and participated is several tests at the Nevada Test Site. After completing his military service, he became a weapons designer, dismantled chemical munitions, and a hazardous waste management executive.
