I was inspired to write Ludi the Loggerhead Turtle by my grandchildren. I don t know when the idea came to me but I had a strong desire to share with them that no matter what happens to them in this scary world there is a God above that will always provide for them. While I was looking at paintings I created for a recent art show of Loggerhead Turtles, I realized that the story was just waiting for me to tell through these paintings of endangered turtles. Ludi s story is basically the lifecycle of the loggerhead turtle and how God provides for her. From birth these wonderful creatures struggle to survive and then grow up. They return to the beaches where they are born to lay eggs and start the life cycle again. The book through fine art paintings illustrates the struggle, but most of all includes examples of how God provides for these turtles and if so why not us. The book is intentionally written to encourage adult interaction with children, including explanations about God and his protection. The wording is kept simple but the illustrations are vibrant in color adding to the reading experience for the child. My hope is that through my Ludi the Loggerhead Turtle book and my art I will inspire children to embrace life and not be afraid.
