A "Happily Ever After" book in the tradition of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and EmmaThe Greek Maiden and the English Lord is a historical romance that delves into prejudice and principles - and the fight for one's identity.

In 1831, sixteen year old gypsy Lily embarks on a journey to England in search of her parents. Her cousins in England realize how little she knows about being a lady and send her to a boarding school in York to learn refinement and await her father's return from the Indies. There, she falls in love with Edward Grant, an English lord, who is engaged to another.

News of her father dying in a shipwreck sets Lily's whole world reeling. Penniless, she is forced to work at the boarding school as a maid to pay her tuition. Her gypsy past comes to the surface to haunt her.

Will Edward's love for Lily be strong enough to overcome the prejudices of the upper English class?

From the Author:
"Being a romantic at heart, my stories focus on themes related to love and happiness. I love happy endings, and all my stories have them. However, that does not mean that everything is sugary sweet. There is conflict, and plenty of it, and these obstacles mar Lily's happiness, but she fights for her rights and for her identity and overcomes the prejudice against her past. Enjoy the story!" - Patty Apostolides
About the Author:
It all began when her baby son napped during the day. Educated as a biologist, but having made the decision to be a stay-at-home mother, Patty Apostolides decided to sit and write a story. It wasn't any story. It had to be a love story.

Her first story, Lipsi's Daughter, was inspired by her visits to the Greek island of Lipsi in the 70s and 80s, and was a bestseller. More books followed, but now she had to write in the evenings, when her son was older and didn't take naps anymore.

In addition to The Greek Maiden and the English Lord, Patty Apostolides has written the best-selling novels The Lion and the Nurse, Helena's Choice, a poetry book, a novella, and a children's story.

She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the National University and a B.A. in Biology from Case Western Reserve University. Other interests include playing the violin and composing music. Please visit the author's website for more information: pattyapostolides.com

Book Description Buch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Six year old Lily Montgomery wanders from her home in Patras on that fateful night of 1821 when the Ottomans set fire to the Greek city, and is captured by gypsies. Ten years later, she learns about her true identity from her gypsy grandmother and begins her search for her father, who is an English Lord and her mother, a Greek heiress. Her personal journey leads her to England, where she is informed by her cousin, Mrs. Bennington, that her father is away on a trip to the Indies and her mother presumably dead from the war. Lily is sent away to boarding school by Mrs. Bennington. There, she falls in love with Edward Grant, an English lord, but he is engaged to another. When Lily receives news that her father has died in a shipwreck, her whole world turns upside down. She has no funds and is forced to work as a maid to pay her tuition.
