PreSchool-Grade 4—This interactive book by Rena Korb contains basic information about the different types of rocks: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Users can read the book on their own or have it read to them. In the "Read to Me" version, the text is read aloud in a dull, robotic manner, with each sentence highlighted in yellow as it is read; sidebars are also read. Some words are highlighted in purple and can be clicked on for a definition. Sound effects and snippets of rock music transition between pages. One two-page spread remains landscape when it should have been adjusted to portrait, making the text and pictures appear sideways on the screen. In the "Read to Me" mode, a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen allows users to stop/play, toggle forward and backward, and adjust the volume. There are also buttons on the bar to allow quick access to the table of contents, glossary, review quiz, fun facts, and home. The linked table of contents moves users to a desired chapter with a click of the mouse. Although user friendly for the most part, improved narration and more attention paid to each page's orientation would have made this a better product.—Jennifer Verbrugge, Dakota County Library, Galaxie Branch, Apple Valley, MN
