Thirty-three of poet John H. Hausner's Favorite poems are contained in Sebastian, Essence Of My Soul. The name "Sebastian" in the title of Hausner's pseudonym, under which some of his poems have previously appeared in various periodicals. Through Sebastian, Hausner's true feelings emerge and are skillfully molded ito enchanting verse. These poems cover all facets of life: romantic ideals, intimacy, humor, patriotism, even controversial social issues. Hausner's reverence for woman is detailed in a poem of the same name:
God made the universe in seven days;
Then He made her, more beautiful in many ways.

John H. Hausner was born in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated cum laude from the University of Detroit with a Ph.D. in political science. He also holds an M.A. in that field and has completed course work toward a doctorate. He taught in Germany, while serving in the army, and later he taught in the Detroit public schools; at the University of Cincinnati (as a fellow); and at the University of Detroit. In 1966, he completed his Juris Doctor degree, summa cum laude, and was president of his class. He entered private practice in 1967, then served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Michigan, becoming Chief Assistant for the Eastern District. In 1976, he was appointed Circuit Court Judge, and was later elected by the citizens of Wayne County to that post, in which capacity he served until retirement.
