About the Author:

Agatha Christie (1890-1976) remains the undisputed best crime and mystery writer in history. She is remembered for her 66 detective novels, 14 short stories and the creation of Hercule Poirot and Miss Jane Marple. By the age of 5 years, Agatha taught herself to read and was interested in singing and piano. Her shy character; however, prevented her from being a pianist. Agatha wrote her first mystery novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles in 1920 after her sister challenged her to write a novel. The story was a hit and was the start of Agatha as a crime and mystery writer. Plotting mysteries by Christie was an art. “Plots come to me at such odd moments, when I am walking along the street, or examining a hat shop... suddenly a splendid idea comes into my head”, Agatha says describing how she got the ideas to write her novels. Yet, her plots, novels and characters were strong enough to make them realistic and very well studied for all of her lovers. She was the best all-round craftsman in her field.
