Inspector Juve and journalist Jerome Fandor died when the ship S.S. Gigantic went down off the coast of Newfoundland. Also dead in the shipwreck was their arch-enemy, the master criminal Fantomas. How then, ten years later, do Juve and Fandor find them selves alive on a roof-top in Marseilles? The men find it hard to convince anyone, especially the police department, that they are indeed themselves! When Eleonore de Vautreuil mysteriously appears, when she should be on a ship thousands of miles away, the Vautreuils are mystified. Then the deceased dog of Louis Rippert, Assistant Secretary in the office of the Prefecture de Police, strangely returns to life. . .

About the Author:

The Fantomas novels were originally conceived by Pierre Souvestre and Marcel Allain, and the pair wrote 32 books in the series. When Souvestre died, Allain continued the mysteries alone. Originally published as Fantomas est-il Ressuscite?, The Lord of Terror sets the intrepid Juve and Fandor once again on the trail of "Robbery personified, Pillage incarnate, Felonius Audacity in the flesh, the very Genius of Evil" -- Fantomas.
